Recently, I read the article published by Bloomberg "As Tinder Flirts With Ads, Is It Worth Millions—or Billions?"
The journalist who had written the article says: "Last August I asked Match CEO Sam Yagan how much IAC would have had to pay for Tinder if it were acquiring the company as an independent startup, instead of having grown it in-house. Having sold his own dating business to IAC’s Match unit for USD50 million, he knew well the history of such sales. “I can’t think of a single acquisition of a dating site for more than USD10 million by someone other than Match,” Yagan said. “We are the global buyer.”"

The normative Big5 model (a.k.a. Big Five, FFI, FFM, OCEAN model) to measure personality of daters had been proven/revealed as an incomplete and incorrect model to measure personality of daters. Now replaced by HEXACO test, a.k.a Big Six test. The BIG5 normative personality test is the biggest mistake Psychologists made since several years ago. The BIG5 is also known as the Five Factor Model theory of personality traits, a psychological model based on research by Paul Costa and Robert McCrae.

Academics from all over the World had begun to publish Scientific Research using the HEXACO model of personality and they plan to discontinue the Big5 model (a.k.a. Big Five, OCEAN or FFI five factor inventory, FFM five factor model). Online dating sites using the Big Five model could be considered obsolete sites, because the Big Five model has been proven as "an incorrect and incomplete model of personality"

As some of the subdomains of the main domains of the HEXACO model are different from the subdomains of the main domains of the Big Five model, it can not be simple added the scale of the Honesty-Humility factor to the Big Five model to upgrade the personality test to the HEXACO model.

".. the Big Five's Agreeableness and HEXACO's Agreeableness are not identical. The Big Five factors do not include an Honesty-Humility factor, but some of the characteristics belonging to Honesty-Humility are incorporated into the Big Five's Agreeableness factor. Although earlier investigations found only the Big Five factors, more recent studies conducted in various languages (including English) with larger sets of adjectives recovered six factors. "

Online Dating sites have very big databases, in the range of 20,000,000 (twenty million) profiles, so the Big Five model or the HEXACO model are not enough for predictive purposes. That is why I suggest the 16PF5 test instead and another method to calculate similarity between prospective mates. Also to take into account women under hormonal treatment because several studies showed contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle".
[Also some Psychologists began to encourage the use of other tests for the Online Dating Industry, like:
California Psychological Inventory (CPI)
and
The Millon Index of Personality Styles-Revised (MIPS Revised)

but my best recommendation is, of course, the 16PF5 normative personality test.
Nor the CPI nor the MIPS can outperform the 16PF5.]

 Personality Based Recommender Systems are the next generation of recommender systems because they perform far better than Behavioural ones (past actions and pattern of personal preferences)
That is the only way to improve recommender systems, to include the personality traits of their users. They need to calculate personality similarity between users but there are different formulas to calculate similarity. Recommender systems are morphing to .......... compatibility matching engines, as the same used in the Online Dating Industry since years, with low success rates until now because they mostly use the Big Five to assess personality and the Pearson correlation coefficient to calculate similarity.
The Big Five (Big 5, FFI, FFM, OCEAN model) normative personality test is obsolete. The HEXACO (a.k.a. Big Six) is another oversimplification. Online Dating sites have very big databases, in the range of 20,000,000 (twenty million) profiles, so the Big Five model or the HEXACO model are not enough for predictive purposes. That is why I suggest the 16PF5 test instead and another method to calculate similarity. I calculate similarity in personality patterns with (a proprietary) pattern recognition by correlation method. It takes into account the score and the trend to score of any pattern. Also it takes into account women under hormonal treatment because several studies showed contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle".
[Also some Psychologists began to encourage the use of other tests for the Online Dating Industry, like:
California Psychological Inventory (CPI)
and
The Millon Index of Personality Styles-Revised (MIPS Revised)

but my best recommendation is, of course, the 16PF5 normative personality test.
Nor the CPI nor the MIPS can outperform the 16PF5.]

If you want to replicate a big success in Brazil, it will be as hard as the same to replicate it in all European countries, but in this case with 1/8 of population and the majority of the persons DO NOT own or WILL NOT use a credit/debit card to buy online! I live in a South American country and I am really astonished to see how online daters in "1st World" countries are really victims of human experimentation. No actual online dating site  is "scientifically proven" because no one can prove its matching algorithm can match prospective partners who will have more stable and satisfying relationships -and very low divorce rates- than couples matched by chance, astrological destiny, personal preferences, searching on one's own, or other technique as the control group in a peer reviewed Scientific Paper for the majority (over 90%) of its members.

The Online Dating Industry is selling elixirs, tonics, snake oil liniments and other patent medicine and performing like the Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry before the USA Food and Drug Administration was created where any player can make any claim without any credentials. 



Like eHarmony,  a 14 years old obsolete site and a HOAX based on a big scientific FRAUD, because the normative Big Five model to measure personality of daters had been proven/revealed as an incomplete and incorrect model to measure personality of daters. Now replaced by HEXACO test, a.k.a Big Six test.
