FLAWED PAPERS, a collection of papers trying to explain stable marriage as an economic function (as a complex mental process).
They propose: a stable marriage can be predicted using mainly
Gale_Shapley algorithm, General Equilibrium Theory and Non_cooperative
Game Theory.
The Gale-Shapley algorithm is not good enough to solve the stable
marriage problem because is based on initial preferences (attraction,
fantasies, infatuation) and does not take into account temporal patterns
of relationship variables. http://onlinedatingsoundbarrier.blogspot.com.ar/2010/05/flawed-papers.html
"In
the long run, this judgment won’t strongly affect Plenty of Fish or
other online dating sites, but it serves as an important demonstration
that the CRTC will act on complaints made under the new anti-spam laws." I do not agree. Perhaps PlentyOfFish is in decadence. And it began since October 2014. See evidence from Alexa and Compete.
There is a large dotcom bubble fueled by venture investment funds, investors who are dragging other investors to continue investing until they can sell shares of the company and recover leveraged money, but the last holder of shares is going to lose.

When the IAC Personals bought OKCupid (4+ years ago) for an astronomical amount of money, the OKCupid team had the task to copycat Badoo, but they failed in that mission. IAC Personals backed Tinder instead, as the copycat of Badoo.
It
looks like the FT articles about Rocket Internet in the past few months
have been the outcome of Samwer’s PR agency…having said this, below are
a few points for thought
-All ventures are created using a complex system of shell companies. This is a fact and very easy to verify
-The
purpose of such structure is threefold: record fictitious sales and
expenses to avoid German taxes, multiply the number of “consultancy
contracts” that the ventures need to pay to Rocket holding and hide cash
outflows from the ventures
-The ventures are actually companies without strategy, without sustainable growth, loss making
-Thanks
to consultancy contracts and other tricks, the brothers are able to
return from their investment in each venture within 2 years, leaving the
entire loss to other investors
-KPIs and financials are manipulated and sometimes totally made up.
The IT system is unable to provide reliable data and investors simply
cannot audit the numbers
If anybody is interested, I’m happy to give more details.
In summary, the brothers did a wonderful job in raising funds and an
even better job in creating a big machine with nothing underneath and
keeping a cut of the funds for themselves instead of using it for
developing the business. But, after all, isn’t it what a large number of
ventures founders do these days? Set up a boring online business, make a
fancy website and good marketing materials and raise funds to pay their
salary for a few months or (if lucky) for a few years? Rocket just did
it in a bigger way, fooling tax authorities too If you want to replicate a
big success in Brazil, it will be as hard as the same to replicate it in
all European countries, but in this case with 1/8 of population and the
majority of the persons DO NOT own or WILL NOT use a credit/debit card
to buy online! They will prefer to research online and then buy offline. Many if not most,
USA, Canada or European businesses models are unfeasible in Latin American
countries! Perhaps the same situation for Africa, Russia or even
Australia.(transportation costs could be 10 times bigger than Europe) http://onlinedatingsoundbarrier.blogspot.com.ar/2014/08/article-rocket-internets-brotherneurs.html

Personality Based Recommender Systems are the next generation of recommender systems because they perform far better than Behavioural ones(past actions and pattern of personal preferences). That
is the only way to improve recommender systems, to include the
personality traits of their users. They need to calculate personality
similarity between users but there are different formulas to calculate
similarity. Similarity is a word that has different meanings for different persons or companies, it exactly depends on how mathematically is defined. In
case you had not noticed, recommender systems are morphing to
.......... compatibility matching engines, as the same used in the
Online Dating Industry since years, with low success rates until now
because they mostly use the BIG 5 to assess personality and the Pearson
correlation coefficient to calculate similarity. The BIG 5 (Big Five)
normative personality test is obsolete. The HEXACO (a.k.a. Big Six) is
another oversimplification. Online Dating sites have very big databases, in
the range of 20,000,000 (twenty million) profiles, so the BIG 5 model
or the HEXACO model are not enough for predictive purposes. That is why I
suggest the 16PF5 test instead and another method to calculate
similarity. I calculate similarity in personality patternswith
(a proprietary) pattern recognition by correlation method. It takes
into account the score and the trend to score of any pattern. Also it
takes into account women under hormonal treatment because several
studies showed contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on
average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle".

It does need "a 100 times better improvement", not 100% better, 100X better, really an INNOVATION. The Online Dating Industry needs a very powerful algorithm like the "Teller Ulam design". In this case 100 times more powerful than actual matching algorithms.
Worldwide
there are over 5,000 online dating sites, no one uses the 16PF5, no one
is scientifically proven yet, and no one can show you compatibility distribution curves,

with a 20,000,000 women database, and to select a bunch of 100 women
from 20,000,000 women database.
