Four letters can say a lot: Why people put their Myers-Briggs personality types in their Tinder profiles ???

Improvement is not innovation!
The Online Dating Industry needs INNOVATIONS, not more bells and whistles.
http://onlinedatingsoundbarrier.blogspot.com.ar/2018/01/mistakes-at-behavioral-economics-of.html
Breaking "the online dating sound barrier" is to achieve at least:
3 most compatible persons in a 100,000 persons database.
12 most compatible persons in a 1,000,000 persons database.
48 most compatible persons in a 10,000,000 persons database.
100 times better than Compatibility Matching Algorithms used by actual online dating sites!
The 3 milestone discoveries of the 2001 - 2010 decade for Theories of Romantic Relationships Development are:
I) Several studies showing contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users.
"Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle"
II) People often report partner preferences that are not compatible with their choices in real life. (Behavioural recommender systems or other system that learns your preferences are useless)
III) What is important in attracting people to one another may not be important in making couples happy. The key to long-lasting romance: COMPATIBILITY is exactly STRICT PERSONALITY SIMILARITY and not "meet other people with similar interests or political views".
PAPER "Only the congruent survive - Personality similarities in couples. Personality and Individual Differences"

PAPER "Partnership longevity and personality congruence in couples"
http://onlinedatingsoundbarrier.blogspot.com.ar/2010/04/only-congruent-survive-personality.html
At the paper "Perceptions of Ideal and Former Partners' Personality and Similarity"
The authors had written
".... mismatches in personality are a frequently mentioned cause for relationship break-up. If former partners indeed have dissimilar personalities, our findings underline how difficult it is for many people to select a mate with a similar personality, or, alternatively, how little value individuals put on finding a similar partner in terms of personality.
The present study's results, as well as the results found in previous studies (e.g., Eastwick & Finkel, 2008), may be used to educate people, especially singles, about what really matters in long-term relationships, for instance, similarity in personality, instead of complementarity."

Online Dating sites have very big databases, in the range of 20,000,000 (twenty million) profiles, so the Big Five model or the HEXACO model are not enough for predictive purposes. That is why I suggest the 16PF6 test instead and another method to calculate similarity.
High precision in matching algorithms is precisely the key to open the door and leave the infancy of compatibility testing.
Without offering the NORMATIVE 16PF6 (or similar test measuring exactly the 16 personality factors) for serious dating, it will be impossible to innovate and revolutionize the Online Dating Industry.

PAPER: Age trends in HEXACO-PI-R self-reports
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0092656616301040
Journal of Research in Personality Volume 64, October 2016, Pages 102–111
Highlights
We examined age differences in the six broad HEXACO personality factors and their defining facets, using self-reports from an online sample (N ≈ 100,000, ages 14–74). Honesty-Humility showed an upward trend of about one full standard deviation unit between ages 18 and 60. Age trends for Emotionality and Extraversion differed by facet, but overall were downward for Emotionality and upward for Extraversion. Agreeableness showed relatively weak age trends. Conscientiousness and Openness showed upward age trends during the teen years (extending to the mid-20s for Conscientiousness), but age trends thereafter differed considerably by facet. Results are discussed in relation to previous findings for the Big Five, to the “age-crime curve”, and to possible evolved developmental origins.

PAPER: Psychometric Properties of the HEXACO-100
http://asm.sagepub.com/ content/early/2016/07/11/ 1073191116659134.abstract
Psychometric properties of the 100-item English-language HEXACO Personality Inventory–Revised (HEXACO-PI-R) were examined using samples of online respondents (N = 100,318 self-reports) and of undergraduate students (N = 2,868 self- and observer reports). The results were as follows: First, the hierarchical structure of the HEXACO-100 was clearly supported in two principal components analyses: each of the six factors was defined by its constituent facets and each of the 25 facets was defined by its constituent items. Second, the HEXACO-100 factor scales showed fairly low intercorrelations, with only one pair of scales (Honesty–Humility and Agreeableness) having an absolute correlation above .20 in self-report data. Third, the factor and facet scales showed strong self/observer convergent correlations, which far exceeded the self/observer discriminant correlations.

the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III)
Recently I was asked about using the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) for seious online dating purposes.
Short answer: It CAN NOT outperform the 16PF5 test.
The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) is quite similar to Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory.
Both the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory are NOT general personality instruments to be used with normal individuals.
Also, some time ago I was asked about the California Psychological Inventory (CPI), a self-report inventory created by Harrison Gough and currently published by Consulting Psychologists Press. The test was first published in 1956, and the most recent revision was published in 1987. It was created in a similar manner to the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI)—with which it shares 194 items. But unlike the MMPI, which focuses on maladjustment or clinical diagnosis, the CPI was created to assess the everyday "folk-concepts" that ordinary people use to describe the behavior of the people around them.
The Online Dating Industry does not need a 10% improvement, a 50% improvement or a 100% improvement. It does need "a 100 times better improvement"
The only way to revolutionize the Online Dating Industry is using the 16PF5 normative personality test, available in different languages to assess personality of members, or a proprietary test with exactly the same traits of the 16PF5 and expressing compatibility with eight decimals (needs a quantized pattern comparison method, part of pattern recognition by cross-correlation, to calculate similarity between prospective mates.)

It is all about achieving the eighth decimal!
With 8 decimals, you have more precision than any person could achieve by searching on one's own, but the only way to achieve the eighth decimal is using analysis and correlation with quantized patterns.

PerfectMatch, another HOAX
It is really incredible how PerfectMatch, an old & obsolete site, is still alive.
PerfectMatch is based in the Myers-Briggs personality test.
The Myers-Briggs personality test is only an obsolete ipsative test, like the other famous ipsative test DISC.
The Big5 inventory / Five Factor Model is a normative test, as the 16PF5.
WorldWide, there are over 5,000 -five thousand- online dating sites, but no one is using the normative 16PF5
Ipsative tests are based on forced choice questions and responses. Each choice is scored. These scores can only represent the relative strengths of the person being tested and cannot be compared to any other individuals. Such tests can typically be identified in the marketplace by the test asking the person to 'describe themselves'. This type of test would not normally be used in recruitment and selection.
Normative tests measure quantifiable characteristics on individual scales. These scales can vary independently. Also the scores can measure the characteristics of an individual against confirmed patters of normality (e.g. normal distribution or Gaussian distribution). Normative testing allows people to be compared to particular groups, populations, or jobs.
Normative testing generally has a higher validity than ipsative.
"You can have one Myers-Briggs personality on Tuesday and another when you retake the test on Thursday" Barbara Ehrenreich (2006)

"..... She's dedicated over 31 years of scientific research to co-develop the DUET Total Compatibility System ........" and during 31 years of scientific research she can not publish any peer reviewed scientific paper for public and Academic scrutiny of findings showing PerfectMatch's matching algorithm can match prospective partners who will have more stable and satisfying relationships with low divorce rates than couples matched by chance, astrological destiny, personal preferences, searching on one’s own, or other technique as the control group.
