Article With online dating, you get what you pay for.

The key to long-lasting romance is STRICT PERSONALITY SIMILARITY, but ...
the only way to revolutionize the Online Dating Industry is using the 16PF5 normative personality test, available in different languages to assess personality of members, or a proprietary test with exactly the same traits of the 16PF5 and expressing compatibility with eight decimals (needs a quantized pattern comparison method, part of pattern recognition by cross-correlation, to calculate similarity between prospective mates.)
High precision in matching algorithms is precisely the key to open the door and leave the infancy of compatibility testing.

article: LinkedIn Corporation (LNKD) - Valuation
http://prudentvalueinvestor.blogspot.com.ar/2015/02/linkedin-corporation-lnkd-valuation.html
"Based on the analysis provided above I may conclude the LNKD is overvalued and is a good candidate for SELL SHORT at current market price levels. "
http://seekingalpha.com/article/2893736-the-linkedin-bubble?ifp=0&v=1423658700
Even Apple Inc. (AAPL) is overvalued.
Perhaps LinkedIn is in the same road as:
Pandora Media, Inc. (P)
Yelp, Inc. (YELP)
Groupon, Inc. (GRPN)
Twitter, Inc. (TWTR)
Zynga, Inc. (ZNGA)
MeetMe, Inc. (MEET)
even
IAC/InterActiveCorp (IACI)
They seem to be deflating bubbles.
There is a large dotcom bubble fueled by venture investment funds, investors who are dragging other investors to continue investing until they can sell shares of the company and recover leveraged money, but the last holder of shares is going to lose.

Please remember:
1- What is important in attracting people to one another may not be important in making couples happy.
Latest Research in Theories of Romantic Relationships Development shows: compatibility is all about a high level on personality* similarity* between prospective mates for long term mating with commitment.
*personality measured with a normative test.
*similarity: there are differents ways to calculate similarity, it depends on how mathematically is defined.
2- At "Human oestrus" Gangestad & Thornhill showed
"Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle"
and at "Does the contraceptive pill alter mate choice in humans?" Alvergne & Lummaa said
".. whereas normally cycling women express a preference for MHC (Major Histocompatibility Complex) dissimilarity in mates, pill users prefer odours of MHC-SIMILAR men, indicating that pill use might eliminate adaptive preferences for genetic dissimilarity."

The 10 Most Interesting Dating Studies Of 2014?
http://www.businessinsider.com/most-interesting-dating-studies-of-2014-2014-12
Please remember:
"online dating" is a broad concept to define a large group of different proposals:
- Search ("You can search for the person you want, but most probably that person does not exist or does not want to meet you because you are not compatible with him/her.")
- Matching based on Self-Reported Data
- Bidirectional Recommendation Engines / Compatibility Matching Algorithms.
Experience had shown serious daters never use social networking sites/applications for dating purposes and online daters belong to 3, 4, 5 or 6 online dating sites at the same time.
http://onlinedatingsoundbarrier.blogspot.com.ar/2014/01/facebook-is-not-primed-to-disrupt.html
Lack Of Innovation & Decadence can summarize the Online Dating Industry for years.
The Online Dating Industry is performing like the Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry before the USA Food and Drug Administration was created. There is no/weak Legislation, no ID verification, low reliable background checks, no Quality Norms.
No one compatibility matching method is Scientifically Proven.
The entire Online Dating Industry for serious daters in 1st World Countries is a HOAX, performing as a Big Online Casino, with a low effectiveness/efficiency level of their matching algorithms (less than 10%). In the same range as searching by your own.
The Online Dating Industry needs a major cataclysm to extinguish the big, old and obsolete dinosaurs.

PAPER: Partner similarity matters for the insecure:
Partner similarity matters for the insecure: Attachment orientations moderate the association between similarity in partners’ personality traits and relationship satisfaction
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0092656614001019
Abstract
A longitudinal sample of romantic couples was used to examine whether attachment security moderates the association between partners’ personality-trait-similarity to each other and their relationship satisfaction. Replicating previous research, there were no bivariate associations between trait-similarity and satisfaction. However, partners’ perceptions of personality-similarity were associated with satisfaction. Attachment styles also moderated the curvilinear associations between partners’ trait-similarity and satisfaction. People with high attachment avoidance and low attachment anxiety (dismissing attachment) seemed to have an optimal level of similarity in which satisfaction was maximized at moderate levels of similarity. People with low avoidance and high anxiety (preoccupied attachment) exhibited the opposite pattern, expressing higher levels of satisfaction if their partner was highly similar or dissimilar to them.
Please remember:
The Big Five normative test that had been proven/revealed as an incomplete and incorrect model to assess/measure personality of persons.
The Big Five normative test had been replaced by HEXACO or Big Six test.
Similarity is a word that has different meanings for different persons or companies, it exactly depends on how mathematically is defined. I calculate similarity in personality patterns with (a proprietary) pattern recognition by correlation method. It takes into account the score and the trend to score of any pattern. Also it takes into account women under hormonal treatment because several studies showed contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle".

about the Executive Interview: Meir Strahlberg, Avalanche CEO
I agree with Mr. Strahlberg when he says:
http://www.globaldatinginsights.com/06052014-executive-interview-meir-strahlberg-ceo-avalanche-llc/
"5. What are the biggest challenges currently facing dating sites?
Innovation is something that is lacking in the industry. ................"
Many C-Level executives from Online Dating Companies are more worried about their golf scores than their company’s long term strategy and innovations. They can cook a barbecue under the water, they are smoke sellers, but they are not going to innovate in nothing. They do not pay attention to latest research from Academics which could be beneficial for the Online Dating Industry. http://news.investors.com/technology-click/042814-698678-match-okcupid-parent-expected-to-gain-market-share.htm
The key to long-lasting romance is STRICT PERSONALITY SIMILARITY.
WorldWide, there are over 5,000 -five thousand- online dating sites
but no one is using the 16PF5 (or similar) to assess personality of its members!
but no one calculates similarity with a quantized pattern comparison method!
but no one can show Compatibility Distribution Curves to each and every of its members!
but no one is scientifically proven!
It is all about achieving the eighth decimal!
With 8 decimals, you have more precision than any person could achieve by searching on one's own, but the only way to achieve the eighth decimal is using analysis and correlation with quantized patterns.
Without offering the NORMATIVE16PF5 (or similar test measuring exactly the 16 personality factors) for serious dating, it will be impossible to innovate and revolutionize the Online Dating Industry All other proposals are NOISE and perform as placebo.
The Online Dating Industry does not need a 10% improvement, a 50% improvement or a 100% improvement. It does need "a 100 times better improvement", not 100% better, 100X better The Online Dating Industry needs a very powerful algorithm like the "Teller Ulam design". In this case 100 times more powerful than actual matching algorithms.

New Video Dating App ???
An article at Mashable talks about a New Video Dating App.
The 3 milestone discoveries of the 2001 - 2010 decade for Theories of Romantic Relationships Development are:
I) Several studies showing contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle"
II) People often report partner preferences that are not compatible with their choices in real life. (Behavioural recommender systems or other system that learns your preferences are useless)
III) What is important in attracting people to one another may not be important in making couples happy. Compatibility is all about a high level on personality similarity between prospective mates for long term mating with commitment.
I agree that the entire Online Dating Industry for serious daters in 1st World Countries is a HOAX, performing as a Big Online Casino, with a low effectiveness/efficiency level of their matching algorithms (less than 10%), in the same range as searching by your own.
Actual online dating sites offering compatibility matching methods are only fueled by big marketing budgets and not by serious scientific evidence. No one ( eHarmony, Chemistry, PerfectMatch, PlentyOfFish Chemistry Predictor, MeeticAffinity, Be2, RewardingLove, Parship, True, etc) can prove its matching algorithm can match prospective partners who will have more stable and satisfying relationships than couples matched by chance, astrological destiny, personal preferences, searching on one's own, or other technique as the control group in a peer_reviewed Scientific Paper for the majority (over 90%) of their members.
They are all like placebo, as:
* Actual online dating sites offering compatibility matching methods, when calculating compatibility between prospective mates, have less or at least the same precision as searching on one's own. [in the range of 3 or 4 persons compatible per 1,000 persons screened]
* That is because they use:
a) simplified versions of personality traits, instead of the 16PF5 or similar with the complete inventory (16 variables)
b) inadequate quantitative methods to calculate compatibility between prospective mates.
To solve that problem I propose:
1) the 16PF5 or similar normative personality test to measure personality of normal persons over 26 years old interested in serious dating.
No actual online dating site offering compatibility matching methods uses the 16PF5 normative test available in different languages.
2) a new quantitative method to calculate compatibility between prospective mates, based on quantized pattern comparison (part of pattern recognition by correlation)

Bizarre Musical Stereotypes
Do You Fit These Bizarre Musical Stereotypes? / article at Mashable
Please read the paper:
"How Shared Preferences in Music Create Bonds Between People: Values as the Missing Link" 2011
Diana Boer, Ronald Fischer, Micha Strack, Michael H. Bond, Eva Lo, and Jason Lam
How can shared music preferences create social bonds between people? ... Value similarity is the missing link in explaining the musical bonding phenomenon [and not personality similarity], which seems to hold for Western and non-Western samples and in experimental and natural settings.
The notion of music compatibility was pioneered by Dr. Jason Rentfrow and Dr. Sam Gosling, but never succeed. "roommates with similar personalities were no more likely to enjoy their living arrangement than were roommates with different personalities. However, roommates with similar music preferences enjoyed more pleasant and satisfying relationships and reported a stronger desire to continue living together than did roommates with different music preferences. "

STRICT PERSONALITY SIMILARITY and not "meet other people with similar interests"

The Online dating disruption panel at iDate Las Vegas.
Interesting to read full transcription.
"Dan Winchester: I would argue that there hasn't been any meaningful disruption in the last 13 years. The closest I'd say anyone has come to disruption is the free space. POF claims to have more users than any other dating site. And Match.com paid USD90 million for a company with USD3 million worth of revenue (he is naming OkCupid). I do think there is still the possibility that free dating could usurp paid dating and the industry just gets smaller financially."
I agree but the revenue of POF is in the range of USD40 million meanwhile IAC Personals is in the range of USD750 million. POF has the traffic but IAC Personals has the money. And new Legislation can kill free online dating proposals like POF if Legislation forces to conduct ID verification or background checks.
"Brian Bowman: ...... the biggest reason dating hasn't innovated is the business model and this 1990 model of charging to communicate obfuscates all kinds of innovation. "
I agree because paid online dating sites have high acquisition costs, they can not abandon the attracting, converting and retaining marketing stages; the automatic renewal of their members subscriptions with dirty credit-card billing trickery.
"Brian Bowman: ...... So the major innovation in dating is going to be infusing social networking, social profiles, who you know in common, who your friends are on top of the dating process. "
I DO NOT agree at all! Social dating / social discovering is vaporware.
"Larry Cervantes: I think instead of being disruptive, a lot of what we call innovation is simply adoption and implementation ... "
I agree. Pure imitation, no innovation at all. Innovations are not adding more bells and whistles to actual online dating sites.
"Steve Carter: Facebook doesn't really know that much about us, you know who knows a lot about us? It’s Google. Does anyone know why Google hasn’t entered this space?"
Facebook does not know your …………… personality!
Google also does not know your …………… personality!
I do not think Google (annual revenue over USD31Billion) could be interested in the Online Dating Industry (because people could accuse Google of big monopoly and that could hurt its big revenue), but I think Google could need a Personality Based Recommender System.
-------------------------------------------
NO INNOVATIONS SINCE YEARS IN THE ONLINE DATING INDUSTRY.
C level executives are cooking barbecues under the water (selling smoke) and not paying attention to latest research from Academics which could be beneficial for the Online Dating Industry. Wasting precious time with Matchmakers which should be obsolete.
Actual matching algorithms used by eHarmony, Chemistry, PlentyOfFish and others, even behavioural recommender systems, can not be improved, they need to be discarded NOW. Because they are in the range of 3 to 4 prospective mates as selected / recommended / compatible for dating purposes per 1,000 members screened in the database. They all 3 are performing the same for serious daters, with a high percentage of false positives, like gun machines firing flowers.
They can not break the online dating sound barrier!
You do not need to improve a piston engine when you need a jet engine to break sound barrier.
That range convergence phenomenon is what I had called "the online dating sound barrier", in 2003, when I had discovered than problem, 10 long years ago.
I had reviewed over 55 compatibility matching engines intended for serious dating since 2003, when I had discovered "the online dating sound barrier" problem.
Breaking "the online dating sound barrier" is to achieve at least:
3 most compatible persons in a 100,000 persons database.
12 most compatible persons in a 1,000,000 persons database.
48 most compatible persons in a 10,000,000 persons database.
100 times better than Compatibility Matching Algorithms used by actual online dating sites!
The only way to achieve that is:
- using the 16PF5 normative personality test, available in different languages to assess personality of members, or a proprietary test with exactly the same traits of the 16PF5.
The ensemble of the 16PF5 is: 10E16, big number as All World Population is nearly 7.0 * 10E9
- expressing compatibility with eight decimals, like The pattern 6.7.6.8.9.6.7.7.8.7.2.5.8.7.3.4 is 92.55033557% +/- 0.00000001% similar to the pattern 7.7.6.8.8.7.6.5.8.7.4.5.7.7.3.4
Using a quantized pattern comparison method (part of pattern recognition by cross-correlation) to calculate similarity between prospective mates.
That is the only way to INNOVATE and revolutionize the Online Dating Industry.
High precision in matching algorithms is precisely the key to open the door and leave the infancy of compatibility testing.
It is all about achieving the eighth decimal!
With 8 decimals, you have more precision than any person could achieve by searching on one's own, but the only way to achieve the eighth decimal is using analysis and correlation with quantized patterns.
Without offering the NORMATIVE16PF5 (or similar test measuring exactly the 16 personality factors) for serious dating, it will be impossible to innovate and revolutionize the Online Dating Industry
All other proposals are NOISE and perform as placebo.

OkCupid research: RUBBISH
Please DO NOT trust research conducted by OkCupid.
It is all rubbish, severely biased.
Please see how the majority of OKCupid’s free users are big liars and cheaters, you cannot trust in what they say or do!!!
October 26th, 2009
46% of men and 30% of women say they are a genius, they think they are one in a thousand!
OkCupid is for fun dating, for entertainment purposes, for instant gratifications; not for serious dating.
Please remember:
The 3 milestone discoveries of the 2001 - 2010 decade for Theories of Romantic Relationships Development are:
I) Several studies showing contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle"

Ten fake profiles, one OkCupid experiment
Jon Millward published the results of ten fake OkCupid profiles to asess the male-female dynamic in online dating.
-------------
OkCupid is for fun dating, for entertainment purposes, for instant gratifications; not for serious dating.
Since the beginning of 2003, I had been testing online dating sites
-intended for serious daters- by creating dummy (fake) Male/Female
profiles and using them as test points for reverse engineering purposes.
Also there is a similarity trilogy between genetic, mate choice and personality based recommender systems.

Games at eHarmony soon!
Right Brain Advertising had prepared fresh documents about eHarmony. Some of them with several mistakes.
They include.
- Homepage
"Welcome to the Right Brain Advertising eHarmony page! For the past several months we have done research on social media habits as well as the online dating
industry in order to come up with innovative solutions for eHarmony."
innovative solutions for eHarmony??? The only one is to replace eHarmony, 12+ years old & obsolete site, performing as placebo, with a a new site with a new matching algorithm using the 16PF5 test or similar including the latest discoveries in theories of romantic relationships development with commitment.
- Brand Analysis
- Consumer Analysis
".... online dating might be making a shift toward locationbased mobile dating apps, something that eHarmony does not currently have. Competitors that already have location-based mobile dating apps include Blendr, Grindr, OkCupid Locals, and HowAboutWe. Furthermore, social networking sites like Facebook allow people to meet each other and compare profiles for free." [That is only for short term mating, for instant gratifications, for flirting.]
- Digital Platform
- channel Mix
"The way our consumers will come across our advergame is by a link on the eHarmony homepage to the advergame microsite as they sign into their accounts."
"Our customers will not only be entertained but they will also get dating practice from playing. The game is a virtual speed dating game with avatars. The goal of the game is to earn points by remembering specific facts about each speed dater with whom you've interacted. For the gamers who are already eHarmony customers they can win a subscription of the calling feature on their profile, gift cards for friends and family members or a promotion code for their subscription."
"For gamers who aren't subscribed to eHarmony they can receive incentives to joining, like a free match weekend."
- Creative Concepts
eHarmony's CEO failed to launch eHarmony Inc.'s IPO
Then failed to sell al eHarmony Inc.'s proprierties to IAC (match, Chemistry, OkCupid and others)
eHarmony's CEO should had launched a new site with a new matching algorithm to replace eHarmony, 12+ years old & obsolete site, performing as placebo, but he failed.
What is next?
Trying to sell ALL the pieces of eHarmony at Second Market?

Your Online Dating Site Will Fail
Martin Zwilling had written the article "Startups: Your Online Dating Site Will Fail" 22 months ago, last July 2009
Now he upgraded the article to "Six Reasons To Rethink Your Online Dating Site"
I agree that "Investors are looking for real innovation, not copycats with more bells and whistles. So are customers. Let's give it to them."
Lack Of Innovation & Decadence can summarize the Online Dating Industry since years.
The Online Dating Industry needs a major cataclysm to extinguish the big, old and obsolete dinosaurs (eHarmony, Match/Chemistry, PerfectMatch, Meetic, Parship, etc).
The 3 latest discoveries in theories of romantic relationships development is the source to find the innovations the Industry needs.:
1) Several studies showing contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users.
2) Behavioural Matching recommends people based on the type of person you have sent emails to, replied to, clicked on in search results and gone on dates with, but .... persons/people often report/select partner preferences that are not compatible with their choices in real life, that is why Behavioural Recommender Systems / Recommendation Engines perform so bad.
3) compatibility is all about STRICT personality similarity between prospective mates for long term mating with commitment.
*personality measured with a normative test.
*similarity: there are different ways to calculate similarity, it depends on how mathematically is defined.
